PLANK is an Italian design furniture manufacturer with a passion for intense research in industrial production technology and an innovative approach to form. Since 1953 we produce seating and table systems for contract, residential and public spaces around the world.

Our heritage guides us, but our focus is firmly on the future. As a family-run company, we oversee every stage of development and production. This independence allows us not to chase trends, but to create objects that add value over time through functionality, versatility and ergonomics. That is why the PLANK collection evolves gradually and consistently – an approach that is at the heart of our brand identity.

Designers

Through close, long-term collaborations with designers such as Konstantin Grcic, Naoto Fukasawa, Björn Dahlström and Cisotti + Laube, we have succeeded in developing products that respond to contemporary needs, while showing a constant commitment to innovation and technical curiosity.

Responsible manufacturing – 100% Made in Italy

We prioritise quality and longevity over novelty and passing trends. That is why we produce exclusively in Northern Italy, with short supply chains and long-term partners, using a carefully selected palette of high-quality, recyclable materials.

Our furniture is built from interchangeable components that can be reordered and replaced. Wherever possible we avoid glue, so products can be dismantled, repaired and returned to the recycling loop.

History

Our history spans five generations of furniture production: from a workshop founded in Bolzano in 1883, to solid-wood chairs made by the million, to the design collection of today.

Architecture

Since 1969 PLANK has been at home in a factory designed by the architect Othmar Barth in Ora. Steel, glass and exposed concrete define the building, and its shed roofs face north to fill the production hall with even daylight. More than fifty years on, the building still houses development, assembly, logistics and our showroom.
