House of Interiors, Zurich

The House of Interiors in Zurich brings architecture, interior design and craftsmanship under one roof. Its event room is furnished with REMO by Konstantin Grcic.

In the Binz district of Zurich, a former industrial area, studios, workshops and makers share 3,400 square metres on the ground and first floors of the B2Binz building. The House of Interiors was founded by the interior architect Iria Degen and Alessandro Carroccia, CEO of Hyrock. With its monthly Lunch & Learn the house has a format of its own, and it is a partner institution of the Zurich Design Weeks. Planning and production have one address, and the way from an idea to its realisation is short.

A room that changes every day

The House of Interiors rents out its event room for talks, workshops and exhibitions. It is furnished with REMO wood metal: the chairs stack and roll away on the trolley, so the room is set up in rows for a talk or cleared for an exhibition.

Configured for the space

REMO wood metal was configured for this room: the ash shell open-pored, stained and lacquered in signal grey, the tubular steel frame powder-coated in black, both matched to the interior that Iria Degen Interiors designed for the house.

REMO goes back to PLANK’s origins in wood. Konstantin Grcic first designed the chair in moulded plywood. The interlocking joint between the curved shell and the horizontal backrest is made by machine and finished by hand.

One form, three materials

From this chair, a whole collection has grown: one form in three materials, for indoors and outdoors. Chairs and stools, nearly all of them stackable, and a trolley that moves up to twelve chairs at once. Configurable for every requirement and every use, REMO is versatility in its most practical form.

Special configurations

Every space has its own story. PLANK works closely with architects and planners on special configurations for contract projects. 2D and 3D CAD files, data sheets and dimension sheets are ready in the download area.
