Designing furniture with a clear focus on functionality, ergonomics and timeless aesthetics.
PLANK is an Italian design furniture manufacturer with a passion for intense research in industrial production technology and an innovative approach to form. Since 1953 we produce seating and table systems for contract, residential and public spaces around the world.
Our heritage guides us, but our focus is firmly on the future. As a family run company, we oversee every stage of development and production. This independence allows us to work with consistency and a long-term perspective. We create products that add value through their functionality, versatility and longevity. Our collection evolves gradually. The pursuit of perfection and progress defines our brand identity.
Through long-term collaborations with leading designers, such us Konstantin Grcic, Naoto Fukasasa, Björn Dahlström, Cisotti-Laube we maintain an ongoing dialogue.
Products result from concentrated work shaped by trust and technical curiosity.
PLANK products have won numerous design awards, such as the XXII Compasso d’Oro ADI (MYTO chair), the iF Product Design Award, Gold (MIURA stool) or the German Design Award, Best of the Best (BENCH).
They feature in the permanent collections of major museums including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Design Museum in Munich, the Art Institute of Chicago and the ADI Design Museum, Milan.
Responsible Manufacturing
PLANK’s passion for timeless design means that we prioritise quality and longevity over novelty or passing trends. We only develop products that we feel make a positive contribution.
Our woodworking heritage provides us with a unique appreciation four our planet and the natural beauty surrounding us. We value short supply chains and partnerships built on quality and consistency.
That’s why we produce exclusively in Northern Italy, enabling us to work very closely with long-term suppliers helping us sourcing a carefully selected palette of high-quality and recyclable materials.
Our furniture is manufactured using interchangeable components that can be reordered and replaced in the future if required.
Wherever possible, we avoid the use of glues so products can be easily dismantled, repaired and reintroduced into the recycling process.
